Hi All, thanks so much for the explanation on the fund and process so far. I have a few questions I hope you could help with

:- [ ] As this is a place-based fund we would like to include images to support our application. Would we be able to send a pdf including images as our application instead of filling in the online form?- [ ] We intend to apply as an innovation grant (i.e. a product). Is there anything specific you’re looking for under this type of grant?- [ ] Do you assess applications based on any particular weighting that you can share?- [ ] To what extent will the budget be negotiated once an application is selected?

Have many non-academic bids not supported by a higher education institution been successful?

Is there plans for PCAN to continue beyond Nov 22? I have a project idea with legacy which would really benefit from the support of a network beyond the life of the fund! Ie - will the website continue?
Stacia Ryder

I have a couple of questions as well. 1. For Lina - What percent time did you allocate for your project? 2. In Stage 1, what is the expectation for funding breakdown, as, there is really only one line in the application. Thanks!
Marta Bruno Soares
45:26
Is the call exclusive to ECRs?
Stacia Ryder
45:26
Also, along the ECR project or fellowship question - I am an ECR and it is a research proposal, but, I also intend to include a couple of colleagues, so would that mean it is better suited as a research proposal? Thanks!

Jamie mentioned being on a project steering committee. Do most projects incorporate a steering committee at the application stage?
Jamie Brogan - ECCI
50:26
It's worth saying we'd be unlikely to fund two bids looking at the same topic, even if they were both very strong - we'd pick the strongest.
Kate Simpson

Is it advisable to invite a mentor who is already within the PCAN network to co-produce, or comment on an application, or is that a bit of a conflict of interest?
Jez Hall (Shared Future CIC)
51:53
On finance... how do we deal with VAT if we are invoicing... will this be consider a grant and therefore outside the VAT regime?
Jamie Brogan - ECCI
51:54
Steering committee I would say is good practice but not essential.
Niall McLoughlin
52:21
For an ECR fellowship research proposal - would there be a preference for an organisational partner relationship to be set up in advance, or that research is co-produced with end-users to some extent? Or, would a proposal that does not have a partner/organisational/coproduction relationship set up in advance still fair well in evaluation?
Stacia Ryder
53:05
Thanks Lina and Jamie.
Marta Bruno Soares

Is there a maximum duration for the projects?
Emma Fieldhouse
58:52
Could a researcher from PCAN be allocated before a submission is made? i.e. I'd love to join forces with you to strengthen the research part of the project - who could I discuss this with?
Marta Bruno Soares
01:00:02
Just realised that the call refers to projects “start spring 2022 with completion no later than November 2023.” so assuming no specific duration per se but rather based on activities and budget.

Just re-posting this as I think it could be relevant for others: In Stage 1, what is the expectation for funding breakdown information we should include, as, there is really only one line in the application form and no option for attachment.
Emma Fieldhouse
01:01:58
Thanks!

Re-posting this in case there’s time to respond: As this is a place-based fund we would like to include images to support our application. Would we be able to send a pdf including images as our application instead of filling in the online form?
Stacia Ryder

Oh sorry if I missed this the first time.
